Join the Lindheimer Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) for their monthly chapter meeting! These meetings are free and open to the public. The purpose of the Lindheimer Chapter shall be to promote conservation, appreciation and utilization of the native plants and plant habitats of Texas through education, outreach and example.
We start at 5:30pm with social time, have a short business meeting at 5:40pm, and present the Plant of the Month at 5:50pm, followed by our monthly speaker.
July’s monthly speaker will be Elizabeth McGreevy, author of Wanted! Mountain Cedar: Dead and Alive. Elizabeth tells the story of Mountain Cedar trees that grow in the Texas Hill Country. Over the last 100 years, these trees have been characterized as non-native, water-hogging, grass-killing, toxic, useless species in order to justify their removal. The result has been a glut of Mountain Cedar tall tales and anti-cedar sentiments.
