Library of Things

The Mammen Family Public Library now offers a Library of Things collection! The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional items for MFPL Library of Things members to borrow for educational and recreational purposes. These items can be used in the library or at home!

How does it work?

  1. Visit the library and fill out a one-time lending and liability e-form. Visit the information desk to access the e-form and let a staff member know you have finished it so you are updated to a Library of Things member! Library of Things members must be 18 or older. 
  2. Browse the Library of Things collection in person or online! Library of Things Members are able to check out up to two items, and are eligible to place one Library of Things item on reserve at a time. Library of Things Members can check items out the Self Check Kiosks or with a staff member!
  3. Use it, enjoy it, and return it to the Information Desk during library hours. Library of Things items check out for two weeks; these items are not eligible for renewals. 

Who can become a Library of Things member?

    In order to be a Library of Things member, a patron must be: 
    (a) At least 18 years of age 
    AND
    (b) a library cardholder in an approved zip code  OR a paid library cardholder for at least 60 days.
    Membership includes:
    • The ability to check out Library of Things materials
    • The ability to register for “Open Studio” program time. Open Studio time allows patrons to utilize the makerspace to complete their own projects. Equipment and materials must be checked out before use.
    • The ability to register for and complete “Take & Make” projects. Take & Make projects are craft kits and creative prompts designed to be completed at home. Some projects may be submitted for community displays.

    With a broad collection there is sure to be something for everyone in the Library of Things!
