This introductory course is designed for students with no prior knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL). It provides a foundation in the basics of ASL, including vocabulary, grammar, fingerspelling, and the development of expressive and receptive skills. Emphasis is placed on everyday communication and conversational skills within the context of Deaf culture. Students will also explore Deaf history, community norms, and cultural values to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Deaf experience. This course combines interactive practice, visual language activities, and immersion techniques to help students begin communicating effectively in ASL.

This event is for adults. Children ages 16 and up may attend with an adult.
