Join us for a film screening of The Stars at Night! We will be joined by Director and Writer of the film Betty Buckley.
About the film:
The Stars at Night is a feature documentary that explores the connections between astronomy, mythology, and original storytelling. It follows expert interviewees and a group of college students as they embark on an expedition to try to see the night sky as the ancients did. This film premiered at the Austin Film Festival and has since been screened for Dark Sky groups throughout Texas and even the South of France.
About the Director:
Betty is an Emmy and Peabody award winning Producer with over 25 years of experience in film, television, new media, and animation. A professor at Texas State University, she teaches Producing and The Business of Film. She has produced projects that have taken her from London to Hawaii. A natural organizer and networker, Buckley founded Women in Film Dallas and has received the organization’s Achievement Award. In 2005 she received a Gracie Award for Gilda’s Place, a public service announcement she co-wrote and produced for WIF.D featuring the voice of Meryl Streep. A member of the Director’s Guild of America, The Stars at Night is her first film as a writer/director.
