This informative session will guide you through the process of selecting and planting native plants—focusing on fall as the ideal season for starting your landscape transformation. You’ll learn:

  • The benefits of fall planting: cooler temperatures, more consistent rainfall, and reduced transplant shock.
  • Identifying which native wildflowers and grasses are best planted in fall (such as those needing cold stratification).
  • Seed placement and watering strategies to encourage germination in spring.
  • Matching native tree and shrub species to functional goals—such as shade, privacy, wildlife habitat, or erosion control.
  • Fall and winter care tips
  • Monitoring moisture levels during dry spells
