Calling all aspiring inventors, budding engineers, and wannabe cyberpunks! Ever wanted to write computer code and assemble electronic gadgets of your own? Now’s your chance to learn! Over the course of this three-week workshop, we’ll use the powerful yet easy-to-use Arduino Mega to build devices ranging from ultra-simple light switches to more advanced equipment like weather stations.
This is a 3-part series. Registrants must plan to attend all three classes in the series:
Class 1 – Thursday, August 1st, 5:30pm-6:45pm: The Adventure Begins! You’ll learn the basics of electric circuits, test your knowledge by building a simple light switch, and finish by loading code onto the Arduino to control a multicolor LED.
Class 2 – Thursday, August 8th, 5:30pm-6:45pm: Lights, Dice, Action! Learn to write C++ code for the Arduino, assemble a circuit with multiple components, and develop an electronic six-sided die that’s ready to roll!
Class 3 –Â Thursday, August 15th, 5:30pm-6:45pm:Â How About That Weather? Push your new skills to the next level by connecting sensors and display units to the Arduino to build a weather station that reads and displays temperature and humidity in real time.
By filling out the registration form, you will be registered to attend all of the classes in this series.
Attendees must be a Mammen Family Public Library card holder in order to use makerspace equipment. TexShare and Student Passport cards do not qualify for use of makerspace equipment. Please include your library card number on the registration form below so that we can confirm your registration.
