Short Story Writing Contest
CALLING ALL WRITERS!
Mammen Family Public Library is delighted to announce that we are hosting a short story writing contest this fall, opening September 15th and closing October 15th at 12:59 pm
This year’s theme is: Man VS. Machine
In order to enter:
Attach your short story to an email as a .PDF and send it to writingcontest@mfplibrary.org by 11:59 pm on October 15, 2025
Please include your full name in the body of your email, as well as which age category you are entering.
There are three age categories:
1. Children (Ages 7 – 12)
2. Teens (Ages 13 – 17)
3. Adults (Ages 18+)
Formatting Rules:
- Your short story must be attached to the email via PDF
- Entries must be three pages max
- 12 pt font, Times New Roman
- Single spaced, 1-inch margins
- File should include last name and title of story (Ex: lastname_storytitle.pdf)
- Please note that any entries containing foul language, gratuitous violence, hateful speech, AI generated content, unoriginal works or previously copyrighted material (such as fanfiction) will not be considered for the contest.
Prize
Our first, second, and third place will be award a prize!
Additionally, we will be adding our top three winners’ short stories into our collection at the library so that patrons can check them out!
Winners will be announced on November 14, 2025! Winners will be notified via email and annouced on social media.
